The news as it trends.

After nearly two decades in a coma, Saudi Arabia’s beloved “Sleeping Prince,” Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal, has passed away at age 36.

His story began tragically in 2005, when—at just 15 years old—he was involved in a devastating car accident while studying at a military college in London.

The crash left him with severe brain injuries and internal bleeding, placing him in a vegetative state that lasted for 20 years.

Known across the Arab world for his father’s unwavering hope, Prince Al-Waleed became a symbol of faith, resilience, and paternal devotion.

His father, Prince Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, a deeply religious figure and nephew of billionaire businessman Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, remained by his side throughout the ordeal.

Refusing to withdraw life support, Prince Khaled turned his son’s hospital room into a sanctuary of prayer and love—often sharing videos of faint responses that touched millions.

Prince Al-Waleed passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, where he had been receiving care since being transferred from London.

His death marks the end of a deeply emotional chapter—one defined not only by tragedy, but by courage, compassion, and enduring family strength.
