Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has been barred from prosecuting the Georgia election interference case involving President Donald Trump.
The Georgia Supreme Court upheld a lower court’s decision that disqualified Willis due to her romantic relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade, which created an appearance of impropriety.
Although Willis remains the elected DA, she can no longer oversee this specific case.
Responsibility now shifts to the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia, which must appoint a new prosecutor to determine the case’s future.
Four of the original 19 defendants have already pleaded guilty, leaving 14 others still facing charges under Georgia’s racketeering laws.
The case remains active, but its direction is uncertain until a new prosecutor is named.
