UFC CEO Dana White, alongside President Donald Trump, has unveiled a jaw-dropping vision for the upcoming UFC event at the White House.
The photogrammetric renderings show a dramatic octagon setup on the South Lawn, framed by a massive arch.
While fewer than 5,000 fans will be allowed on the lawn itself, an estimated 85,000 more are expected to gather at The Ellipse, just outside the White House fence, for a live watch party and after-event celebration.
To put this in context, MetLife Stadium, one of the largest in the U.S., holds around 82,500 people.
That means the crowd expected near the White House will exceed the capacity of a full NFL stadium, all for a single fight night.
Taxpayers are expected to bear part of the burden for security, since the event will be held on federal property.
So while UFC is covering the spectacle itself, public resources will be tapped to manage safety and logistics.
This has led some critics to question whether deploying federal manpower for a private sports event is the best use of government resources.
