Trail of Fury: Peller’s Master’s Degree Job Interview Livestream Leaves Nigeria Divided
The News as It Trends. See the video below.
A 19-year-old high school graduate, Peller, has cleverly outwitted individuals with master’s degrees in a controversial content stunt that has ignited fierce debate across Nigeria.
The TikTok sensation, known for his viral skits and bold personality, posted a job opening for a cameraman role with a ₦500,000 monthly salary — attracting dozens of applicants, including highly educated candidates.
But what unfolded was far from a traditional interview.
Instead, it was a livestreamed session filled with jokes, tribal remarks, and moments many viewers found humiliating.
Some critics have even suggested that those interviewed should file a lawsuit, arguing they were used to generate content — some of which has now been viewed over a million times.
Following public outrage, Peller defended himself, claiming he is not accountable for how the interviews unfolded.
He stated that all participants were informed beforehand that the session would be livestreamed and shared online, and that they agreed to participate in the stunt, which was initially disguised as a job interview.
He also emphasized that two individuals were hired from the group, saying he’s doing what he can, in his own way, to help Nigeria.
Critics argue that consent under desperation is not true consent — especially in a country battling high unemployment.
One candidate, Nkese Eyo, said she felt used for entertainment rather than evaluated for employment, citing tribal jokes and body-shaming remarks.
Social media users slammed the act as exploitative, insensitive, and emblematic of a growing trend where content creation trumps compassion.
Others defended Peller, saying he was transparent and that the outrage is misplaced.
The incident has sparked a broader conversation about influencer ethics, digital dignity, and the blurred lines between opportunity and exploitation in Nigeria’s hustle culture. 🎥📉🇳🇬.
