The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, July 15, 2025, a national public holiday to honor the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on July 13.
The announcement coincides with Buhari’s burial in Daura, Katsina State, scheduled for the same day.
President Bola Tinubu approved the holiday as part of a seven-day national mourning period, with flags flying at half-mast across the country.
Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo described the holiday as a moment for Nigerians to reflect on Buhari’s legacy of service, integrity, and commitment to national unity.
Citizens are urged to promote peace and patriotism in his memory.
The burial will be attended by top officials and dignitaries from across Nigeria.
