The news as it trends.
Panorama City, Los Angeles is reeling after the brutal death of a 5-year-old boy whose body was discovered in a dumpster.
Police arrested Brycson Gaddis, 20, the ex-boyfriend of the child’s mother, Kemia Hearn (24), on murder charges.
Though not the boy’s biological father, Gaddis allegedly kidnapped both mother and son, forced them into a nearby apartment, and inflicted deadly injuries—fractured ribs, a broken jaw, and a lacerated liver—before discarding the child’s body.
According to Kemia’s father, Troy Hearn, Gaddis had a history of stalking and abuse, with active warrants and prior charges for carjacking, assault, and domestic violence.
Shockingly, Gaddis violated electronic monitoring and missed a court date just months before the incident.
Kemia was detained but later released, and the LAPD continues its investigation.
The child’s death has prompted public vigils and social outrage, with many warning about the dangers of toxic relationships.
As of the latest update, Gaddis is being held in Los Angeles County jail, awaiting formal charges and further legal action.
Advocates warn that these days, simply filing a report may not be enough.
In relationships involving individuals with a tendency to inflict harm, it’s critical to have a secure place to seek shelter and protection.
Safety must go beyond paperwork because survival often requires immediate refuge and strong support.
