The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed its dominance in Lagos State, securing 19 out of 20 Local Government chairmanship seats in the July 12, 2025 elections.

According to the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), APC also clinched 375 out of 376 councillorship positions, leaving only Ward D in Yaba to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The election was declared peaceful across Lagos’ 13,325 polling units, with strong voter turnout despite criticism over logistical lapses.

LASIEC reported that 15 parties contested, but the electoral landscape was defined by two primary contenders—APC and PDP.
