A tragic incident in Southend, Essex, left a mother of five dead after her pet Rottweiler bit her during a scuffle over McDonald’s chicken nuggets.

Michelle Hempstead, 34, was tossing nuggets to her two dogs—a Pomeranian and a Rottweiler-mastiff mix named Trigg—when a fight broke out between them.

In the chaos, Trigg snapped at the smaller dog but accidentally caught Michelle’s arm, severing an artery.

She was rushed to the hospital but died the next day from traumatic blood loss and organ failure.

The coroner ruled it an accidental death, describing Trigg as a “gentle giant” caught in a freak accident.

Both dogs were later disclaimed for destruction, meaning no one claimed ownership after Michelle’s passing, and authorities approved their euthanasia.

It’s a formal way of saying: “No one is keeping these dogs, so they’ll be put down.”

The tragedy came just weeks after Michelle had lost her daughter, compounding the heartbreak for her family.
