More than 60 people remain trapped under rubble following a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting residential areas in Gaza.
The strikes occurred Friday evening in Jabalia al-Balad, in the northern Gaza Strip, where one missile hit the home of journalist Abdel Rahim Khader.
Multiple family members were killed, and dozens more mostly women and children were buried beneath the collapsed structure.
In a separate incident in the Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City, at least 25 members of a single family were killed when Israeli warplanes bombed a cluster of homes.
Witnesses at the scene reported hearing voices from beneath the debris and estimated that as many as 50 people may still be buried alive.
Rescue efforts are ongoing but severely hindered by destroyed infrastructure, limited equipment, and reports of Israeli drones firing on those attempting to help.
Footage of the aftermath has gone viral on social media, showing a grieving mother crying out for answers and condemning the attack.
The video, reportedly captured by local residents, has sparked widespread outrage and calls for international intervention.
The strikes are part of a broader escalation in Gaza City that intensified earlier this week.
According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, thousands have been killed since the start of the conflict, with many more wounded or displaced.
The latest attacks have drawn renewed international concern and urgent calls for humanitarian access to affected areas.
The timing of the escalation coincides with the ongoing United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York City, where Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to address world leaders.
While Netanyahu defends Israel’s military actions, several countries including France, Canada, and Australia have announced formal recognition of Palestinian statehood during this week’s sessions.
Activists have flooded the UN headquarters demanding a ceasefire and accountability.
As airstrikes continue in Gaza and diplomatic tensions rise in New York, the humanitarian crisis deepens, with families still searching for loved ones buried beneath the rubble.
