On September 9, 2025, Senegal’s dramatic 3–2 comeback against DR Congo in the 2026 World Cup qualifier didn’t just break hearts—it broke a stadium.

After leading 2–0, DR Congo collapsed in the second half, triggering fury among home fans.

The final whistle unleashed chaos at Kinshasa’s Stade des Martyrs, where 80,000 seats were torn apart in a wave of destruction.

Riot police struggled to contain the violence as fans clashed, vandalized property, and overwhelmed exits.

Though no fatalities were confirmed, the damage was historic.

FIFA and CAF are expected to investigate, and sanctions may follow.
