An iconic moment in Yoruba land went viral on Saturday, when Sunday Igboho, aka Oosha, the Yoruba Nation activist, visited the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, in a powerful gesture of reconciliation.

The visit marked a significant turning point, as Igboho publicly apologized for past remarks he made against the revered monarch.

He prostrated before the Ooni, expressing deep regret and asking for forgiveness.

According to reports, he acknowledged that while one may speak against a king in his absence, it is unacceptable to do so in his presence.

Igboho’s earlier criticism of the Ooni stemmed from frustration during the height of his activism for Yoruba self-determination.

At the time, he felt that some traditional rulers—including the Ooni—were not doing enough to support the movement or protect Yoruba people from rising insecurity and violence.

His anger intensified during a time when his life was at risk under the administration of then-President Buhari.

His home was invaded by government military personnel, and multiple gunshots were fired, leaving him shaken and enraged.

In that emotional state, Igboho made public statements that were considered disrespectful toward the Ooni.

However, his recent visit to the palace was a moment of humility and healing.

The Ooni graciously forgave him and commended his courage and dedication to the Yoruba cause.

The encounter was widely seen as a call for unity, mutual respect, and the restoration of harmony within the Yoruba community.
