The news as it trends

Just hours before today’s high-stakes summit between Presidents Trump and Zelensky at the White House, Russian forces launched another wave of deadly airstrikes across Ukraine.

Civilians—including children—were killed in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Odesa.

The timing is chilling, underscoring the brutality of Putin’s campaign and casting doubt on the sincerity of any peace overtures.

As Trump meets Zelensky and top European leaders, he insists Ukraine can end the war “almost immediately” by ceding Crimea and abandoning its NATO ambitions.

But according to political analysts, such concessions would be almost suicidal for Ukraine.

Crimea is not just symbolic—it’s a strategic gateway to the Black Sea, vital for trade, defense, and sovereignty.

And NATO membership is critical for Ukraine’s long-term security, offering protection under Article 5 and deterring future Russian aggression.

Zelensky, backed by leaders from the EU, UK, France, Germany, and Italy, remains defiant.

He has vowed never to surrender Crimea or compromise Ukraine’s right to choose its alliances.

As diplomacy unfolds in Washington, Ukraine bleeds. The question remains: Will peace come at the cost of territory—or will global pressure force Putin to back down?
