The news as it trend

A Nigerian correctional officer, ASC 1 Efe Onakpoya, has been dismissed for misconduct after taking unauthorized photographs of inmate Ibuchi Okoro Eze inside the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Afikpo, Ebonyi State.

The images were shared on social media, violating official prison protocols.

Contrary to viral reports, Onakpoya was not exposing abuse or conjugal visits.

Officials say his claims were false and intended to discredit the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS).

The agency stressed it “does not operate like a hotel” and will not tolerate breaches of professional conduct.

While some argue the dismissal raises questions about transparency, others view it as a necessary step to maintain discipline and respect for internal procedures.

The incident has ignited fresh conversation online about the responsible use of access and authority within correctional facilities.
