The Nigerian World.

The news as it trends.

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has called on Niger State Governor Umar Bago to reverse his controversial decision to shut down Badeggi FM 90.1, an independent radio station critical of his administration.

SERAP condemned the revocation of the station’s license and threats to demolish its premises, labeling the move as an attack on freedom of expression and media rights.

In a letter dated August 2, the organization demanded action within 48 hours, warning of legal steps if ignored.

SERAP urged Bago to protect journalists, end the profiling of station staff, and stop weaponizing regulatory agencies.

The crackdown, it warned, sets a dangerous precedent for press freedom across Nigeria.
