Over the weekend, Sterling Sharpe joined his younger brother Shannon Sharpe in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, making history as the first siblings ever inducted into Canton.
The emotional ceremony unfolded at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, where Shannon helped Sterling into his gold jacket—just as Sterling had once received Shannon’s Super Bowl ring.
Sterling’s heartfelt speech credited Shannon as his lifelong inspiration, saying everything he did was “for an audience of one.”
In a jaw-dropping moment, Sterling removed his gold jacket and gave it to Shannon, declaring it his “extreme pleasure” for Shannon to be the only Hall of Famer with two jackets.
August 1st marked the Gold Jacket Ceremony, an intimate event where Shannon first helped Sterling into his jacket. August 2nd was the official Enshrinement Ceremony, where Sterling gave his full speech and made the unforgettable gesture.
Raised in rural Georgia by their grandmother, the brothers share the same parents and a bond forged through hardship and perseverance.
This milestone came amid Shannon’s recent firing from ESPN and the lingering OnlyFans lawsuit saga, reportedly involving a $50 million settlement.
Shannon had asked ESPN to delay the announcement so it wouldn’t overshadow Sterling’s moment.
Instead, the brothers turned the spotlight into a celebration of love, legacy, and football greatness.
Beyond the honor, Hall of Fame induction reportedly comes with financial rewards, including a one-time $300,000 bonus and an annual pension of $110,000, paid quarterly.
Many also earn additional income through personal appearances, memorabilia sales, and endorsements tied to their Hall of Fame status.
