In the USA.
The news as it trends.
New York City was shaken when 27-year-old Shane Tamura opened fire inside the 44-story skyscraper at 345 Park Avenue, which houses prominent tenants such as the NFL headquarters, Blackstone, and KPMG.
Tamura, dressed in business attire and armed with an M4 rifle, bypassed security and began his assault on the 33rd floor—allegedly driven by revenge, as suggested by handwritten notes discovered later at his home in Las Vegas.
Tragically, Officer Didarul Islam, 36, was fatally shot in the back near the building’s entrance while working security for Rudin Management—just days before welcoming his third child.
Two civilians and another officer were also wounded, including an NFL staffer who remains hospitalized but stable.
Witnesses reported Tamura allowed a woman in the elevator to leave unharmed, gesturing calmly without raising his weapon—adding a chilling layer to the shooter’s composed demeanor.
The NFL occupies multiple floors of this elite office tower, though the number of employees present remains unknown.
Tamura later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, leaving behind grief, unanswered questions, and renewed calls for accountability around workplace safety and mental health.
