In a major breakthrough, the Anambra State Police Command, in collaboration with Adamawa State operatives, has dismantled an interstate child trafficking syndicate operating in Uruagu, Nnewi North.

On July 15, 2025, officers rescued 11 children—five boys and six girls—aged between 3 and 6 years.

The children were stolen from Adamawa and illegally “adopted” for ₦1.5 million per boy and ₦800,000 per girl.

One suspect, 43-year-old Uche Okoye, believed to be a key link in the operation, was arrested.

The rescued children have been handed over to officials for reunification with their families.
