The Nigerian World
The news as it trends.
A video circulating online shows Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan visibly distressed as she was reportedly barred from leaving Nigeria, with her passport temporarily seized at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
According to Premium Times, immigration officials stopped her while attempting to board a flight to the UK, citing her name’s inclusion on a government watch list—allegedly at the request of National Assembly leadership.
After nearly an hour of making phone calls and protesting the restriction, Akpoti was eventually allowed to continue her journey.
This incident adds fuel to the growing tensions between the senator and top Senate officials, following her suspension and public allegations of harassment directed at Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Many Nigerians are now questioning whether political retaliation is driving travel restrictions against this outspoken lawmaker.
