Celebrity Gossip.
The news as it trends.
On social media, some are asking, “What is this all about?”
lamenting online after learning that Mark Zuckerberg has quietly acquired over 2,300 acres on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, sparking backlash from locals who accuse him of trying to “own the island.”
His purchases—reportedly worth over $300 million—include ranches, ancestral burial sites, and the Kaloko Reservoir, which tragically collapsed in 2006, killing seven people.
All are said to be part of the acquisition.
To grasp the scale: 2,300 acres equals approximately 1,740 football fields, or three times the size of Central Park.
In short—it’s not a compound, it’s an empire.
Zuckerberg claims the land is for ranching, farming, and conservation, but leaked plans reveal a fortress-style development with two mansions, saucer-shaped treehouses, and a 5,000-square-foot underground bunker—nearly the size of an NBA court.
Critics have slammed the secrecy and lawsuits against Native Hawaiian families, calling it a form of modern colonialism.
While Zuckerberg insists it’s a family retreat, many fear the island’s cultural and ecological future is being reshaped by billionaire ambition.
