The news as it trends.
Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has been denied permission to travel abroad for medical treatment amid his ongoing trial for alleged ₦110.4 billion fraud.
Bello, who faces 16 counts of criminal breach of trust and money laundering, requested the release of his passport to attend a medical appointment in the UK.
However, the court ruled it lacked jurisdiction, as his passport is held by a different court.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) opposed the request, citing flight risk and questioning the credibility of his medical documents.
With his travel bid rejected, Bello must now remain in Nigeria, use a local hospital, and face trial, which resumes in October and November 2025.
