Today, as the news trends, New York Attorney General Letitia James has clinched another major victory in the fight against the opioid crisis—securing $39 million from eight pharmaceutical companies.
The settlement is part of a broader $720 million multistate agreement holding drugmakers accountable for their role in fueling addiction across the country.
James emphasized that the funds will support prevention, treatment, and recovery programs statewide.
This latest win adds to the $3 billion she’s already recovered for New York.
Companies involved include Mylan, Hikma, Amneal, and Apotex. Payments begin in 2026, aimed at reducing overdose deaths and rebuilding communities.
Justice, one step at a time.
