The news as it trends.

Ovidio Guzman Lopez, 35, son of notorious Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, has pleaded guilty in a U.S. federal court to leading a violent faction of the Sinaloa Cartel.

Known as “El Raton,” he admitted to trafficking fentanyl, cocaine, and heroin into the United States — a key force behind the ongoing opioid crisis.

His plea deal includes cooperation with authorities, potentially exposing the cartel’s inner operations and corrupt networks.

This marks the first time one of El Chapo’s sons has formally accepted guilt, signaling cracks within the cartel’s leadership.

Ovidio is now in U.S. custody, awaiting sentencing in Chicago.

His father remains imprisoned for life at ADX Florence, the nation’s toughest supermax facility.

With El Chapo reportedly fathering up to 23 children, many still active in cartel business, this admission may be the beginning of deeper revelations into one of the world’s most feared criminal empires.
