Around the World.

The news as it trends.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu made a powerful impression at the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, held July 6–7, 2025.

Representing Nigeria — now officially a BRICS partner country,

Tinubu called for a bold reevaluation of global governance, financial systems, and healthcare equity.

He emphasized that Africa, despite contributing the least to global emissions, suffers the most from climate change.

He urged the bloc to champion justice, climate finance, and youth inclusion, aligning Nigeria’s Vision 2050 with global sustainability goals.

But it wasn’t just his speech that drew attention.

Tinubu, popularly known as Asiwaju or the “Tinubu of Lagos,” appeared in a striking Nigerian outfit with locally inspired African detailing on his hat, blending cultural pride with diplomatic presence.

The look, shared on his official Facebook page, sparked admiration across social media for its elegance and symbolism.

His attire echoed his message: Africa is not a passive participant — it is a leader in shaping the future.

Tinubu also held a bilateral meeting with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, discussing deeper cooperation in agriculture, energy, and trade.

With Nigeria’s new BRICS status and Tinubu’s assertive diplomacy, the summit marked a turning point for the country’s global role — one defined by both vision and unmistakable style.
