The news as it trends.
Ghanaian singer Shatta Wale may have bitten off more than he bargained for, as he was recently questioned by Ghana’s Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) over suspicions that his 2019 Lamborghini Urus may have been purchased with proceeds from a U.S. fraud case.
The investigation stems from a $4 million scam involving Ghanaian nationals who impersonated nonprofits to defraud the city of Lexington, Kentucky.
Authorities suspect the luxury car was linked to the proceeds of the crime.
Wale voluntarily appeared for questioning and was released on bail.
He claims he doesn’t know the identity of the seller, and his legal team is cooperating with investigators.
While he hasn’t been charged, the case remains active and could escalate depending on further findings.
